New integration required?

essentry is able to integrate any system that has standard interfaces (e.g.API, SDK, etc.).

FAQs

What integration options does essentry offer?

essentry provides flexible integration options to meet the needs of various system environments:

  • API Integration

For systems that can be reached from the internet, essentry offers a robust REST API available at api.essentry.com. This allows seamless integration with cloud-based platforms, web applications, and any system that supports secure internet communication.

  • essentry Cloud Connector

For on-premises systems or environments where a direct internet connection is not possible (such as access control systems behind firewalls), essentry offers the essentry Cloud Connector. This lightweight service runs on a local or satellite system within the customer’s network and securely manages communication with the essentry Cloud Infrastructure over outbound HTTPS connections. It ensures smooth integration even in restricted network environments.

Can I use essentry with an access control system that has no internet access?

Yes. Even if your access control system operates entirely on premise and does not have direct internet access, integration with essentry is possible through the essentry Cloud Connector.

The Cloud Connector is a lightweight service that can be installed:

  • On the same server as your access control system
  • On a separate system within the local network
  • Or ideally, on a system in a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)

It communicates securely with the essentry Cloud Infrastructure via outbound HTTPS (port 443) to *.essentry.com. No inbound connections are required, and your access control system remains protected behind your firewall.

This ensures a secure and reliable integration while maintaining your network’s security policies and system isolation.

What are the system requirements for installing the essentry Cloud Connector?

To successfully install and run the essentry Cloud Connector, your system must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2012/other supported OS (see Microsoft .NET supported OS list)
  • .NET Runtime: Version 8 or higher (.NET and ASP.NET Core Runtime)
  • CPU: Dual Core (Quad Core recommended)
  • RAM: Minimum 500 MB available (2 GB recommended, depending on traffic)
  • Hard Drive: Minimum 5 GB free space (for software, logs, and backups)
  • Internet Connection: Minimum 5 Mbit/s (10 Mbit/s recommended), outbound port 443 (HTTPS) must be open for *.essentry.com.
Can we keep using our existing portal to create access requests or visitor invitations?

Yes — you can absolutely continue using your existing portal to create access requests or visitor invitations.

essentry provides a powerful REST API (available at api.essentry.com) that makes it easy to integrate your current systems with the essentry platform. Through the API, you can seamlessly connect your portal to essentry’s visitor management and access control features — without needing to replace or duplicate your existing workflows.

This allows you to maintain the user experience and tools your team is already familiar with, while benefiting from essentry’s automation and security features in the background.
